✧ I went out with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ while his hand was in my hand, and he came upon a man of shabby appearance. He said: Abu so-and-so? What has brought you to what I see? He said: Sickness and harm, O Messenger of Allah. He said: Shall I not teach you words by which Allah may remove from you sickness and harm? He said: No, it does not please me to have them even if I had witnessed Badr and Uhud with you. He said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ laughed, then said: And can the people of Badr and the people of Uhud attain what the contented poor person attains? He said: Abu Hurayra said: O Messenger of Allah, teach me. He said: Say, O Abu Hurayra: I have relied on the Living who does not die. Praise be to Allah who has not taken a son, and has no partner in dominion, and has no protector out of weakness. And magnify Him with all magnificence. He said: Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came upon me when my condition had become good, and said: What is the matter? He said: I said: O Messenger of Allah, I have not ceased saying the words you taught me.
