حَدَّثَنَا الْهُذَيْلُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الْجُمَّانِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الزُّهْرِيُّ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيِّبِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ:
تَعْمَلُ هَذِهِ الْأُمَّةُ بُرْهَةً بِكِتَابِ اللهِ، ثُمَّ تَعْمَلُ بُرْهَةً بِسُنَّةِ رَسُولِ اللهِ، ثُمَّ تَعْمَلُ بِالرَّأْيِ، فَإِذَا عَمِلُوا بِالرَّأْيِ، فَقَدْ ضَلُّوا وَأَضَلُّوا

✧ This community will act according to the Book of Allah for a time, then it will act according to the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah for a time, then it will act according to opinion. When they act according to opinion, they have gone astray and led others astray.
