حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو خَيْثَمَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ عُمَرَ، حَدَّثَنَا مَالِكٌ، عَنْ قَطَنِ بْنِ وَهْبٍ، عَنْ يُحَنَّسَ

أَنَّ مَوْلَاةً لِابْنِ عُمَرَ أَتَتْهُ، فَقَالَتْ: عَلَيْكَ السَّلَامُ يَا أَبَا عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، فَقَالَ: مَا شَأْنُكِ ؟ فَقَالَتْ: أَرَدْتُ الْخُرُوجَ إِلَى الرِّيفِ وَذَكَرَتِ السِّعْرَ، فَقَالَ لَهَا: اقْعُدِي لَكَاعِ، فَإِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ: لَا يَصْبِرُ عَلَى لَأْوَائِهَا وَشِدَّتِهَا أَحَدٌ إِلَّا كُنْتُ لَهُ شَفِيعًا - أَوْ شَهِيدًا - يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ

Translation

✧ A freedwoman of Ibn Umar came to him and said: Peace be upon you, O Abu ʿAbd al-Rahman. He said: What is the matter with you? She said: I intended to go out to the countryside, and she mentioned the prices. He said to her: Stay, O Lakāʿ, for I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: No one patiently endures its hardship and severity except that I will be an intercessor – or a witness – for him on the Day of Resurrection.
