حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو خَيْثَمَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمَجِيدِ، حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ، عَنْ وَهْبِ بْنِ قَطَنٍ

أَنَّ مَوْلَاةً لِابْنِ عُمَرَ أَتَتْهُ لِتُسَلِّمَ عَلَيْهِ لِتَخْرُجَ مِنَ الْمَدِينَةِ، وَقَالَتْ: أَخْرُجُ إِلَى الرِّيفِ فَقَدِ اشْتَدَّ عَلَيْنَا الزَّمَانُ. فَقَالَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ: اجْلِسِي لَكَاعِ، فَإِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ: مَنْ صَبَرَ عَلَى لَأْوَائِهَا وَشِدَّتِهَا، كُنْتُ لَهُ شَفِيعًا - أَوْ شَهِيدًا - يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ

Translation

✧ A freedwoman of Ibn Umar came to greet him in order to leave Madinah, and she said: I am going to the countryside, for times have become hard for us. Ibn Umar said: Sit down, O Lakāʿ, for I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: Whoever patiently endures its hardship and severity, I will be an intercessor – or a witness – for him on the Day of Resurrection.
