✧ While a man was in his kingdom, he reflected and knew that what he was in would come to an end, and that it had distracted him from worshiping his Lord. So he slipped away from his palace at night until he came to another's kingdom. He came to the seashore and began making bricks, living by that and worshiping his Lord. The king in whose kingdom he was learned of his worship and his condition, so he sent for him, but he refused to come to him. When he saw that, he rode to him. When the worshiper saw him, he fled from him, and he followed him on his mount. He said: 'O servant of Allah, you have nothing to fear from me.' Then he dismounted to him and asked him about his affair. He said: 'I am so-and-so, owner of such-and-such a kingdom. I reflected and knew that what I was in would come to an end, and that it had distracted me from worshiping my Lord.' He said: 'You are no more deserving of what you did than I am.' Then he let his mount go and followed him. They worshiped Allah together, and they asked Allah to cause them to die together, and they died together and were buried. Abdullah said: 'If I were at the sand dunes of Egypt, I would show you their graves by the description that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ described to us.'
