حَدَّثَنَا دَاوُدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو الضَّبِّيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي لَيْلَى، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مُرَّةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ سَلِمَةَ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ: أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ

كَانَ لَا يَحْجُبُهُ عَنْ قِرَاءَةِ الْقُرْآنِ إِلَّا أَنْ يَكُونَ جُنُبًا

Translation

Chain of narrators
  1. Dāwud b. ʿAmr al-Ḍabbī
  2. Sufyān
  3. Ibn Abū Laylá
  4. ʿAmr b. Murrah
  5. ʿAbdullāh b. Salimah
  6. ʿAlī
  7. al-Nabī ﷺ

✧ Nothing would prevent him from reciting the Quran except being in a state of major ritual impurity.
