✧ A man came to Abdullah and said: O Abu Abd al-Rahman, how do you recite this verse: 'from water not stale'? He said: Abdullah said to him: Have you enumerated all of the Quran except this? He said: I recite the Mufassal in one rak'ah. Abdullah said to him: Hastily, like the recitation of poetry? Among the best acts of prayer are bowing and prostration. Peoples will surely recite the Quran but it will not go beyond their collarbones, but when it is recited and takes root in the heart, it benefits. I know the corresponding surahs which the Messenger of God ﷺ used to recite in each rak'ah. Then he stood, and Alqama entered upon him. Then he said: Ask him for us about the corresponding surahs which the Messenger of God ﷺ used to recite. He said: Then he came out to us and said: Twenty surahs from the Mufassal in Abdullah's arrangement.
