✧ I came to Homs, and a group of them said to me: “O Abu Abd al-Rahman, recite to us.” So I recited Surah Yusuf, and a man said to me: “It was not revealed like that.” I said to him: “Woe to you! By Allah, I recited it to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he said: ‘You have done well.’” He said: “While I was arguing with him, I noticed the smell of wine on him. I said to him: ‘Do you drink filth and deny the Quran? No doubt, you will not leave until I flog you with the prescribed punishment.’ So I flogged him with the prescribed punishment.”
