حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْأَعْلَى، حَدَّثَنَا وُهَيْبٌ، حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ:

مَا رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يُصَلِّي شَيْئًا مِنْ صَلَاةِ اللَّيْلِ جَالِسًا، حَتَّى إِذَا دَخَلَ فِي السِّنِّ صَلَّى فَقَرَأَ، فَإِذَا بَقِيَ عَلَيْهِ مِنَ السُّورَةِ ثَلَاثُونَ آيَةً أَوْ أَرْبَعُونَ آيَةً، قَامَ فَقَرَأَ، ثُمَّ رَكَعَ.

Translation

✧ I never saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ pray any part of the night prayer sitting down, until he became older; then he prayed sitting and recited. When thirty or forty verses remained of the surah, he stood and recited them, then bowed.
