حَدَّثَنَا دَاوُدُ بْنُ عَمْرِو بْنِ زُهَيْرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا صَالِحُ بْنُ عُمَرَ، حَدَّثَنَا مُطَرِّفٌ، عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ، عَنْ مَسْرُوقٍ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ:
كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَبِيتُ، فَيُنَادِيهِ بِلَالٌ بِالْأَذَانِ، فَيَقُومُ فَيَغْتَسِلُ، فَإِنِّي لَأَرَى الْمَاءَ يَنْحَدِرُ عَلَى جِلْدِهِ وَشَعَرِهِ، ثُمَّ يَخْرُجُ فَيُصَلِّي فَأَسْمَعُ بُكَاءَهُ، ثُمَّ يَظَلُّ صَائِمًا
Translation

✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ would spend the night, then Bilal would call him with the call to prayer, so he would get up and perform the full bath, and I would see the water streaming down over his skin and his hair, then he would go out and pray, and I would hear his weeping, then he would remain fasting.
