✧ My baggage was in it and it was light, and it was on a swift camel, while Safiyya's baggage was in it and it was heavy, and it was on a slow, lumbering camel that lagged behind the caravan. The Messenger of God ﷺ said: 'Transfer Aisha's baggage onto Safiyya's camel, and transfer Safiyya's baggage onto Aisha's camel so that the caravan may proceed.' Aisha said: When I saw that, I said: 'O servants of God, this Jewish woman has overcome us with the Messenger of God.' She said: The Messenger of God ﷺ said: 'O Umm Abd Allah, your baggage was light, while Safiyya's baggage was heavy, so it slowed the caravan. We transferred her baggage onto your camel, and transferred your baggage onto her camel.' She said: I said: 'Do you not claim that you are the Messenger of God?' She said: He smiled and said: 'Are you in doubt, O Umm Abd Allah?' She said: I said: 'Do you not claim that you are the Messenger of God? Then why have you not been just?' Abu Bakr heard me, and he had sharpness, meaning a temper, so he turned to me and slapped my face. The Messenger of God ﷺ said: 'Gently, O Abu Bakr.' He said: 'O Messenger of God, did you not hear what she said?' The Messenger of God ﷺ said: 'The jealous woman cannot see the bottom of the valley from its top.'
