حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْأَعْلَى، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبَانُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ، قَالَ:

دَفَعْتُ مَعَ حُسَيْنِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ مِنَ الْمُزْدَلِفَةِ، فَلَمْ أَزَلْ أَسْمَعُهُ يَقُولُ: لَبَّيْكَ لَبَّيْكَ، حَتَّى انْتَهَى إِلَى الْجَمْرَةِ، قُلْتُ لَهُ: مَا هَذَا الْإِهْلَالُ يَا أَبَا عَبْدِ اللهِ ؟ قَالَ: إِنِّي سَمِعْتُ أَبِي عَلِيَّ بْنَ أَبِي طَالِبٍ يُهِلُّ حَتَّى إِذَا انْتَهَى إِلَى الْجَمْرَةِ، وَحَدَّثَنِي أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ أَهَلَّ حَتَّى انْتَهَى إِلَيْهَا

Translation

✧ I departed from Muzdalifah with Husayn b. ʿAli, and I kept hearing him say: “Labbayka, Labbayk” until he reached the Jamrah. I said to him: “What is this talbiyah, O Abu ʿAbd Allah?” He said: “I heard my father, ʿAli b. Abi Talib, reciting the talbiyah until he reached the Jamrah, and he told me that the Messenger of God ﷺ recited the talbiyah until he reached it.”
