حَدَّثَنَا سُوَيْدٌ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ يَعْنِي الدَّرَاوَرْدِيَّ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ عَمْرَةَ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ:

كَانَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ إِذَا أَرَادَ أَنْ يَعْتَكِفَ، صَلَّى الصُّبْحَ، فَدَخَلَ مُعْتَكَفَهُ، فَلَمَّا كَانَ صَبِيحَةَ إِحْدَى وَعِشْرِينَ، انْصَرَفَ مِنَ الصُّبْحِ، فَدَخَلَ الْمَسْجِدَ، فَرَأَى أَخْبِيَةً، خِبَاءَ عَائِشَةَ وَكَانَتْ قَدِ اسْتَأْذَنَتْهُ، وَزَيْنَبَ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: " الْبِرَّ تُرِدْنَ بِهِنَّ ؟ " فَأَخَّرَ اعْتِكَافَهُ إِلَى شَوَّالٍ

Translation

✧ Whenever the Prophet ﷺ intended to observe itikaf, he would pray the morning prayer and then enter his place of seclusion. On the morning of the twenty-first, he finished the morning prayer and entered the mosque, where he saw tents: the tent of Aisha, who had asked his permission, and that of Zaynab. The Messenger of God ﷺ said: "Do you intend righteousness by them?" Then he postponed his itikaf until Shawwal.
