حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ صَالِحٍ الْأَزْدِيُّ، حَدَّثَنِي عَجْلَانُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ مِنْ بَنِي عَدِيٍّ، عَنْ مَالِكِ بْنِ دِينَارٍ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ، قَالَ:
لَمَّا حَضَرَتْ أَبَا سَلَمَةَ الْوَفَاةُ، قَالَتْ أُمُّ سَلَمَةَ: إِلَى مَنْ تَكِلُنِي ؟ فَقَالَ: اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّكَ لِأُمِّ سَلَمَةَ خَيْرٌ مِنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ، فَلَمَّا تُوُفِّيَ خَطَبَهَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَتْ: إِنِّي كَبِيرَةُ السِّنِّ، قَالَ: أَنَا أَكْبَرُ مِنْكِ سِنًّا، وَالْعِيَالُ عَلَى اللهِ وَرَسُولِهِ، وَأَمَّا الْغَيْرَةُ فَأَرْجُو اللهَ أَنْ يُذْهِبَهَا، فَتَزَوَّجَهَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَأَرْسَلَ إِلَيْهَا بِرَحَاءَيْنِ، وَجَرَّةٍ لِلْمَاءِ
Translation

✧ When death was present to Abu Salama, Umm Salama said: To whom do you entrust me? He said: O God, You are better for Umm Salama than Abu Salama. When he died, the Messenger of God ﷺ proposed to her, and she said: I am advanced in age. He said: I am older than you in age. And the dependents are upon God and His Messenger. As for jealousy, I hope that God will remove it. So the Messenger of God ﷺ married her, and he sent her two millstones and a water jar.
