حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو خَيْثَمَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ زَيْدٍ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ، قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ:

مَرَرْتُ لَيْلَةَ أُسْرِيَ بِي عَلَى قَوْمٍ تُقْرَضُ شِفَاهُهُمْ بِمَقَارِيضَ مِنَ النَّارِ، قُلْتُ: مَنْ هَؤُلَاءِ ؟ قَالَ: هَؤُلَاءِ خُطَبَاءُ مِنْ أَهْلِ الدُّنْيَا مِمَّنْ كَانُوا يَأْمُرُونَ النَّاسَ بِالْبِرِّ وَيَنْسَوْنَ أَنْفُسَهُمْ وَهُمْ يَتْلُونَ الْكِتَابَ، أَفَلَا يَعْقِلُونَ ؟

✧ On the night I was taken on the night journey, I passed by a people whose lips were being cut with scissors of fire. I said: Who are these? He said: These are preachers from the people of this world, among those who used to command people to righteousness and forget themselves, while they recite the Book. Will they not understand?
