✧ A drought befell the people of Madinah in the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He said: The people stood up to him on a Friday while he was on the pulpit delivering a sermon, and they said: O Messenger of Allah, prices have risen and rains have been withheld, so supplicate Allah to send us rain. He said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ raised his hands and prayed for rain. He said: Then we were rained upon, and we did not cease to be rained upon until the following Friday. He said: The people stood up to him while he was on the pulpit and said: O Messenger of Allah, the riders have been cut off and the buildings have collapsed, so supplicate Allah to remove it from us. He said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ smiled, then raised his hands and said: O Allah, around us and not upon us. He said: Then it shifted, and Madinah became like a crown, while around it there was rain.
