✧ On the day of Uhud, the Messenger of God ﷺ passed by Hamzah — his nose had been cut off and he had been mutilated — and said: 'Were it not that Safiyyah would be distressed, I would leave him so that God would gather him from the bellies of beasts and birds.' He was shrouded in a striped cloak; when they covered his head, his feet showed, and when they covered his feet, his head showed. So they covered his head. And he did not pray over any of the martyrs, and he said: 'I am a witness over you today.' He would place three in one grave and two in one grave, and he would ask which of them knew more Qur'an, and he would put him first in the niche of the grave. And he would shroud two or three men in a single garment.
