✧ When wine was forbidden, he said: "On that day I was serving wine to eleven men. They ordered me, so I overturned it, and the people overturned their vessels with what was in them, until the streets were almost blocked by its smell." Anas said: "Their wine in those days was nothing but unripe dates and ripe dates mixed together." He said: "A man came to the Prophet ﷺ and said: 'I had property belonging to an orphan, and I bought wine with it. Do you think I should sell it and return to the orphan his property?' The Prophet ﷺ said: 'May God curse the Jews! Fat was forbidden to them, but they sold it and ate its price.' The Prophet ﷺ did not permit him to sell the wine."
