حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الرَّبِيعِ، حَدَّثَنَا الْحَارِثُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ، قَالَ:

قَالُوا: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، إِنَّا نَكُونُ عِنْدَكَ عَلَى حَالٍ حَتَّى إِذَا فَارَقْنَاكَ نَكُونُ عَلَى غَيْرِهِ، قَالَ: كَيْفَ أَنْتُمْ وَنَبِيُّكُمْ ؟ قَالُوا: أَنْتَ نَبِيُّنَا فِي السِّرِّ وَالْعَلَانِيَةِ، قَالَ: لَيْسَ ذَاكُمُ النِّفَاقَ

Translation

✧ They said: 'O Messenger of Allah, when we are with you we are in one state, but when we leave you we are in another.' He said: 'How are you and your Prophet?' They said: 'You are our Prophet in secret and in public.' He said: 'That is not hypocrisy.'
