حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ، قَالَ: أَنْبَأَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، سَمِعَ أَنَسًا، يَقُولُ:
جَمَعَ الْقُرْآنَ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ أَرْبَعَةٌ، كُلُّهُمْ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ: مُعَاذُ بْنُ جَبَلٍ، وَأُبَيُّ بْنُ كَعْبٍ، وَزَيْدُ بْنُ ثَابِتٍ، وَأَبُو زَيْدٍ. قَالَ قَتَادَةُ: قُلْتُ لِأَنَسٍ: مَنْ أَبُو زَيْدٍ ؟ قَالَ: أَحَدُ عُمُومَتِي

✧ Four persons collected the Qur’an during the lifetime of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, all of them from the Ansar: Mu‘adh b. Jabal, Ubayy b. Ka‘b, Zayd b. Thabit, and Abu Zayd. Qatadah said: I said to Anas: Who is Abu Zayd? He said: One of my paternal uncles.
