حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ أَنَسًا، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ، قَالَ:
لَا يَتَمَنَّيَنَّ الْمَوْتَ مِنْ ضُرٍّ نَزَلَ بِهِ، فَإِنْ كَانَ لَا بُدَّ فَاعِلًا فَلْيَقُلِ: اللَّهُمَّ أَحْيِنِي مَا كَانَتِ الْحَيَاةُ خَيْرًا لِي، وَتَوَفَّنِي إِذَا كَانَتِ الْوَفَاةُ خَيْرًا لِي
Translation

✧ Let none of you wish for death because of harm that has befallen him. If he must do something, let him say: O Allah, keep me alive as long as life is better for me, and cause me to die when death is better for me.
