✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ was approached by Riʿl, Dhakwan, ʿUsayyah, and Banu Lihyan, who claimed they had become Muslims and sought his help against their people. So the Messenger of God ﷺ reinforced them with seventy of the Ansar. Anas said, “In their time we used to call them the reciters: they would strive in battle by day and pray at night.” They set off with them until they reached the well of Maʿunah, where they betrayed them and killed them. So the Messenger of God ﷺ performed qunut for a month in the dawn prayer, supplicating against these tribes: Riʿl, Dhakwan, ʿUsayyah, and Banu Lihyan.
