حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرٌ، حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ، حَدَّثَنَا هَمَّامٌ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ
أَنَّ رَجُلًا أَتَى النَّبِيَّ ﷺ وَهُوَ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ، فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، اسْتَسْقِ اللهَ لَنَا، فَاسْتَسْقَى، فَمَا نَرَى فِي السَّمَاءِ قَزَعَةً، فَمُطِرْنَا فَمَا جَعَلَتْ تُقْلِعُ إِلَّا وَلَابَتَاهَا تُمْطِرُ، فَلَمَّا كَانَتِ الْجُمُعَةُ، قَامَ إِلَيْهِ ذَلِكَ الرَّجُلُ أَوْ غَيْرُهُ، فَقَالَ: ادْعُ اللهَ أَنْ يَرْفَعَهَا، قَالَ: فَجَعَلْتُ أَنْظُرُ إِلَى السَّحَابِ يَنْشَقُّ شِمَالًا وَيَمِينًا حَوْلَ الْمَدِينَةِ، وَلَمْ يُمْطِرْ فِي جَوْفِهَا قَطْرَةً
Translation

✧ A man came to the Prophet ﷺ while he was on the pulpit and said, “O Messenger of God, ask God to send us rain.” He asked for rain, and we did not see even a wisp of cloud in the sky. Then we were rained upon, and it did not stop until the two lava fields were flowing with water. When Friday came, that same man or another stood and said, “Supplicate God to lift it from us.” He said, “I began to look at the clouds splitting to the north and right around Madinah, and not a drop fell in its midst.”
