حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُوسَى، حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ:

أَنَّ رَجُلًا مِنْ أَهْلِ الْبَادِيَةِ سَأَلَ نَبِيَّ اللهِ ﷺ، قَالَ: وَكَانُوا هُمْ أَجْدَرَ أَنْ يَسْأَلُوهُ مِنْ أَصْحَابِهِ، قَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، مَتَى السَّاعَةُ ؟ قَالَ: وَمَا أَعْدَدْتَ لَهَا ؟ قَالَ: مَا أَعْدَدْتُ لَهَا غَيْرَ أَنِّي أُحِبُّ اللهَ وَرَسُولَهُ، قَالَ: فَإِنَّكَ مَعَ مَنْ أَحْبَبْتَ، قَالَ أَنَسٌ: فَمَا رَأَيْتُ الْمُسْلِمِينَ فَرِحُوا بِشَيْءٍ بَعْدَ الْإِسْلَامِ أَشَدَّ فَرَحًا مِنْهُ بِقَوْلِهِ

Translation

✧ A man from the desert asked the Prophet of God ﷺ — and they were more entitled to ask him than his Companions — saying: O Messenger of God, when is the Hour? He said: And what have you prepared for it? He said: I have not prepared for it anything except that I love God and His Messenger. He said: Then you will be with those you love. Anas said: I never saw the Muslims rejoice at anything after Islam as intensely as they rejoiced at his saying.
