- al-Naḍr b. Kathīr
✧ Abd Allah b. Tawus prayed beside me, and when he prostrated the first prostration and raised his head from it, he raised his hands opposite his face. I disapproved of that, so I said to Wuhayb b. Khalid, 'This one does something I have not seen anyone do.' He said, 'Wuhayb said to him, "Do you do something we have not seen anyone do?" Abd Allah b. Tawus said, "I saw my father do it, and my father said, 'I saw Ibn Abbas do it,' and he mentioned that the Prophet ﷺ used to do it."'

machine translationAl-Naḍr b. Kathīr: al-Bukhārī said of him, "there is something to look into concerning him (fīhi naẓar)", and on another occasion he said, "he has objectionable reports (manākīr)". Al-ʿUqaylī said, "al-Naḍr is not corroborated in it." Ibn ʿAdī said, "he is one of those whose hadith is written down," and he included this hadith among his reports, according to which he used to raise his hands every time he bowed and prostrated, and he would raise them between the two prostrations. Imam Aḥmad declared this al-Naḍr weak (ḍaʿīf). Abū Ḥātim and al-Dāraquṭnī said, "there is something to look into concerning him (fīhi naẓar)". Al-Nasāʾī said, "fair (ṣāliḥ)".
