✧ While they were sitting with the Messenger of God ﷺ, a shooting star was cast and it lit up. The Messenger of God ﷺ said to them: "What would you say in the pre-Islamic era when something like this was cast?" They said: "God and His Messenger know best. We used to say: 'Tonight a great man was born, and tonight a great man died.'" He said: "It is not cast for anyone's death or life. But when our Lord, Blessed and Exalted is He, decrees a matter, the bearers of the Throne glorify Him, then the inhabitants of the heaven that follows them glorify Him, until the glorification reaches the inhabitants of the lowest heaven. Then they say to those who follow the bearers of the Throne: 'What did your Lord say?' They inform them, and the inhabitants of the heavens ask one another until the news reaches the inhabitants of the lowest heaven. Then the jinn snatch the hearing and cast it to their allies, and they are pelted. So what they bring as it is is true, but they distort it and add to it."
