حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، وَعَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ بْنِ أَبَانَ، قَالَا: حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدَةُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ يَعْقُوبَ بْنِ عُتْبَةَ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ
أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ صَدَّقَ أُمَيَّةَ بْنَ أَبِي الصَّلْتِ فِي بَيْتَيْنِ مِنْ شِعْرِهِ، قَالَ: رَجُلٌ وَثَوْرٌ تَحْتَ رِجْلِ يَمِينِهِ وَالنَّسْرُ لِلْأُخْرَى وَلَيْثٌ مُرْصَدُ قَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ: صَدَقَ. قَالَ: وَالشَّمْسُ تَطْلُعُ كُلَّ آخِرِ لَيْلَةٍ حَمْرَاءَ يُصْبِحُ ضَوْؤُهَا يَتَوَرَّدُ تَأْبَى فَمَا تَطْلُعُ لَنَا فِي رِسْلِهَا إِلَّا مُعَذَّبَةً، وَإِلَّا تُجْلَدُ قَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ: صَدَقَ

✧ The Prophet ﷺ affirmed Umayya b. Abi al-Salt in two verses of his poetry. He said: 'A man and a bull beneath his right foot, and the vulture for the other, and a lion lying in wait.' The Prophet ﷺ said: 'He spoke the truth.' He said: 'And the sun rises at the end of every night, red, its light turning rosy; it refuses to rise for us in its gentleness except tormented, or else it is flogged.' The Prophet ﷺ said: 'He spoke the truth.'
