حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرٌ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ، عَنْ عَمْرٍو، سَمِعَ أَبَا مَعْبَدٍ، سَمِعَ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ يَقُولُ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ وَهُوَ يَقُولُ:

لَا يَخْلُوَنَّ رَجُلٌ بِامْرَأَةٍ، وَلَا تُسَافِرِ امْرَأَةٌ إِلَّا وَمَعَهَا ذُو مَحْرَمٍ، فَقَامَ رَجُلٌ، فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، إِنِّي اكْتُتِبْتُ فِي غَزْوَةِ كَذَا وَكَذَا، وَانْطَلَقَتِ امْرَأَتِي حَاجَّةً، قَالَ: فَانْطَلِقْ، فَاحْجُجْ مَعَ امْرَأَتِكَ

Translation

✧ No man should seclude himself with a woman, and no woman should travel unless she has a mahram with her. A man stood up and said: 'O Messenger of Allah, I have been enlisted for such-and-such an expedition, and my wife has set off on Hajj.' He said: 'Go and perform Hajj with your wife.'
