حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو خَيْثَمَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي لَيْلَى، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ، عَنْ يَعْلَى بْنِ أُمَيَّةَ، قَالَ:

رَأَيْتُ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ اسْتَلَمَ الْحَجَرَ الْأَسْوَدَ وَقَبَّلَهُ، وَقَالَ: إِنِّي لَأُقَبِّلُكَ وَإِنِّي لَأَعْلَمُ أَنَّكَ حَجَرٌ لَا تَضُرُّ وَلَا تَنْفَعُ، وَلَكِنْ رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَبَّلَكَ

Translation

✧ I saw Umar b. al-Khattab touch the Black Stone and kiss it, and say: I kiss you, and I know that you are a stone that can neither harm nor benefit, but I saw the Messenger of God ﷺ kiss you.
