حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الدَّوْرَقِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا مُبَشِّرٌ، عَنِ الْأَوْزَاعِيِّ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ، حَدَّثَنِي ابْنُ مِقْسَمٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي جَابِرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ، قَالَ:

كُنَّا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَمَرَّتْ بِنَا جِنَازَةٌ، فَقَامَ لَهَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ، فَلَمَّا ذَهَبْنَا لِنَحْمِلَ إِذَا هِيَ جِنَازَةُ يَهُودِيَّةٍ، فَقُلْنَا: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، إِنَّهَا جِنَازَةُ يَهُودِيَّةٍ، قَالَ: إِنَّ الْمَوْتَ فَزَعٌ، فَإِذَا رَأَيْتُمْ جِنَازَةً فَقُومُوا

✧ We were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when a funeral procession passed by us. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood for it. When we went to carry it, it turned out to be the funeral of a Jewish woman. We said: “O Messenger of Allah, it is the funeral of a Jewish woman.” He said: “Death is a terror, so when you see a funeral procession, stand up.”
