حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ، حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْحَمِيدِ، عَنْ حُصَيْنٍ، عَنْ سَالِمٍ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ - ﷺ

كَانَ يَخْطُبُ قَائِمًا يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ فَجَاءَتْ عِيرٌ مِنَ الشَّامِ، فَانْفَتَلَ النَّاسُ حَتَّى لَمْ يَبْقَ إِلَّا اثْنَا عَشَرَ رَجُلًا، فَأُنْزِلَتْ هَذِهِ الْآيَةُ الَّتِي فِي الْجُمُعَةِ: وَإِذَا رَأَوْا تِجَارَةً أَوْ لَهْوًا انْفَضُّوا إِلَيْهَا وَتَرَكُوكَ قَائِمًا

✧ He used to deliver the sermon standing on Friday. A caravan from Syria arrived, and the people dispersed until only twelve men remained. Then this verse in Surat al-Jumu'ah was revealed: 'And when they saw a transaction or a diversion, they rushed to it and left you standing.'
