✧ A man used to carry wine from Khaybar to Madinah and sell it to the Muslims. He carried some of it with wealth, and brought it to Madinah. A Muslim man met him and said: O so-and-so, wine has been forbidden. So he set it down where he ended up on a hill and covered it with cloaks. Then he came to the Prophet ﷺ and said: O Messenger of Allah, I have heard that wine has been forbidden. He said: Yes. He said: May I return it to the one I bought it from? He said: It is not lawful to return it. He said: May I give it as a gift to someone who will compensate me for it? He said: No. He said: There is wealth in it belonging to orphans under my care. He said: When the wealth of Bahrain comes to us, come to us and we will compensate your orphans from their wealth. Then he called out in Madinah. He said: The man said: O Messenger of Allah, what about the vessels; can we benefit from them? He said: Then untie their covers, and it poured out until it settled in the bottom of the valley.
