حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْأَعْلَى، حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ، عَنْ عِيسَى بْنِ جَارِيَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا جَابِرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ، قَالَ:

جَاءَ أُبَيُّ بْنُ كَعْبٍ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ، فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، إِنْ كَانَ مِنِّي اللَّيْلَةَ شَيْءٌ يَعْنِي فِي رَمَضَانَ، قَالَ: وَمَا ذَاكَ يَا أُبَيُّ ؟ قَالَ: نِسْوَةٌ فِي دَارِي، قُلْنَ: إِنَّا لَا نَقْرَأُ الْقُرْآنَ فَنُصَلِّي بِصَلَاتِكَ، قَالَ: فَصَلَّيْتُ بِهِنَّ ثَمَانَ رَكَعَاتٍ، ثُمَّ أَوْتَرْتُ، قَالَ: فَكَانَ شِبْهَ الرِّضَا وَلَمْ يَقُلْ شَيْئًا

Translation

✧ Ubayy b. Ka'b came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said: 'O Messenger of Allah, something happened from me last night'—meaning in Ramadan. He said: 'And what is that, O Ubayy?' He said: 'Women in my house said: We do not recite the Quran, so we pray with your prayer.' He said: 'So I led them in eight rak'ahs, then performed witr.' He said: 'It was as if he approved, and he did not say anything.'
