حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مُعَاذٍ الْعَنْبَرِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ أَبِي خَالِدٍ، عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ أَبِي حَازِمٍ. عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرٍ الصِّدِّيقِ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ:
يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ، إِنَّكُمْ تَقْرَؤُونَ هَذِهِ الْآيَةَ، وَتَضَعُونَهَا عَلَى غَيْرِ مَا وَضَعَهَا اللهُ؛ يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا عَلَيْكُمْ أَنْفُسَكُمْ لا يَضُرُّكُمْ مَنْ ضَلَّ إِذَا اهْتَدَيْتُمْ، إِنَّ النَّاسَ إِذَا رَأَوُا الْمُنْكَرَ فَلَمْ يُغَيِّرُوهُ، يُوشِكُ أَنْ يَعُمَّهُمُ اللهُ بِعِقَابٍ
Translation

✧ O people, you recite this verse and apply it other than as Allah applied it: O you who believe, upon you is [responsibility for] yourselves. Those who have gone astray will not harm you when you have been guided. When people see wrongdoing and do not change it, Allah is about to encompass them all with punishment.
