machine translationHe was asked about the ḥadīth of Jābir b. ʿAbdullāh from Muʿādh, that he used to pray with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and then leave and lead his people in that same prayer. He said: ʿAmr b. Dīnār narrates it, and there is disagreement about it from him. Al-Ḥasan b. Abī Jaʿfar narrated it from Ayyūb from ʿAmr from Jābir from Muʿādh, and Muḥammad b. Yazīd al-Wāsiṭī followed him, narrating it from Shuʿbah from ʿAmr from Jābir from Muʿādh. But the students of Shuʿbah and the students of Ayyūb contradicted them both, narrating it from them from ʿAmr from Jābir that Muʿādh [did so]. Likewise Manṣūr b. Zādhān, Warqāʾ and Muḥammad b. Muslim narrated it. The sound (ṣaḥīḥ) version is that it belongs to the musnad of Jābir.

machine translationIbn ʿUyaynah narrated this ḥadīth of Jābir from ʿAmr and did not mention this addition. He said: It is possible that this was from the words of Ibn Jurayj, or from the words of ʿAmr, or from the words of Jābir, based on conjecture and personal judgement, not on certainty.
