From the Prophet ﷺ, who said: “If there remained but one day of this world.” Zaidah said in his version: “Allah would prolong that day.” Then they all agreed: “Until He sends on that day a man from me,” or, “from my household, whose name corresponds to my name and whose father’s name corresponds to my father’s name.” Fitr added in his version: “He will fill the earth with equity and justice just as it was filled with injustice and oppression.” In Sufyan’s version, he said: “The world will not pass away—or will not come to an end—until a man from my household, whose name corresponds to my name, rules the Arabs.”
Notes
Abu Dawud said: The wording of Umar and Abu Bakr conveys the same meaning as Sufyan’s wording.
قَالَ أَبُو دَاوُدَ: لَفْظُ عُمَرَ وَأَبِي بَكْرٍ بِمَعْنَى سُفْيَانَ.
