What scholars said about it

In their own words, as Hadith Unlocked records them. They are shown, not summarised into a grade.

machine translationThe confusion (iḍṭirāb) concerning this from Ibn ʿUmar, may God be pleased with him, is most severe. It is reported from him, from his own practice, that he combined the two prayers without adhān or iqāmah. It is also reported from him with a single iqāmah. It is reported from him as a statement of his own (mawqūf) with one adhān and an iqāmah. It is reported from him as a raised report (musnad) with one adhān and one iqāmah. And it is reported from him as a raised report (musnad) that he combined them with two iqāmahs. End of quotation.
