Payment Of Zakat In Advance Before It Falls Due

حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ زَكَرِيَّا عَنِ الْحَجَّاجِ بْنِ دِينَارٍ عَنِ الْحَكَمِ عَنْ حُجَيَّةَ عَنْ عَلِيٍّ

أَنَّ الْعَبَّاسَ سَأَلَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فِي تَعْجِيلِ صَدَقَتِهِ قَبْلَ أَنْ تَحِلَّ فَرَخَّصَ لَهُ فِي ذَلِكَ قَالَ مَرَّةً فَأَذِنَ لَهُ فِي ذَلِكَ

Al-Abbas asked the Prophet ﷺ about paying the sadaqah (his zakat) in advance before it became due, and he gave permission to do that. Abu Dawud said: This tradition has also been transmitted by Hushaim through a different chain of narrators. The version of Hushaim is more sound.

Dīnār, from al-Ḥakam, from Ḥajar al-ʿAdawī, from ʿAlī; and Muḥammad b. ʿUbaydullāh al-ʿArzamī said from al-Ḥakam, from Miqsam, from Ibn ʿAbbās. All of these are errors (wahm). The correct version is what Manṣūr narrated from al-Ḥakam, from al-Ḥasan b. Yanāq, as a mursal report from the Prophet ﷺ. And al-Ḥasan b. ʿUmārah said from al-Ḥakam, from Mūsā b. Ṭalḥah, from his father, that the Prophet ﷺ paid al-ʿAbbās's charity (ṣadaqah) in advance.
