أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ رَاشِدٍ قَالَ:
تُوُفِّيَتْ أُمُّ خَالِدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْقَسْرِيِّ، وَكَانَتْ نَصْرَانِيَّةً، فَدَعَا أَسَاقِفَةَ النَّصَارَى بِدِمَشْقَ، فَقَالَ: اصْنَعُوا بِهَا مَا تَصْنَعُونَ بِبَنَاتِ مُلُوكِكُمْ، فَإِنَّهَا مِنْ بَنَاتِ الْمُلُوكِ. قَالَ: وَأَمَرَ نِسَاءَهُ، فَكُنَّ هُمُ الَّذِينَ يَلُونَ مِنْهَا، وَهُمُ الَّذِينَ يُعَلِّمُونَهُنَّ. قَالَ: فَلَمَّا فَرَغُوا، وَحُمِلَتْ، رَكِبَ، وَرَكِبَ مَعَهُ وُجُوهُ النَّاسِ، فَسَارَ فِي أَعْرَاضِهَا. فَلَمَّا انْتَهَى بِهَا إِلَى الْقَبْرِ، صَرَفَ وَجْهَ دَابَّتِهِ، وَقَالَ: " هَذَا آخِرُ بِرِّنَا بِأُمِّ جَرِيرٍ ". ثُمَّ قَالَ: " أَمَا إِنِّي لَمْ أَصْنَعْ بِهَا إِلَّا مَا صَنَعَ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَبِي زَكَرِيَّا بِأُمِّهِ ". قَالَ مُحَمَّدٌ: " وَكَانَ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَبِي زَكَرِيَّا مِنْ عُبَّادِ أَهْلِ الشَّامِ، وَفُقَهَائِهِمْ، وَعِلْيَتِهِمْ. كَانَ مَكْحُولٌ يَأْخُذُ عَنْهُ
Translation
✧ The mother of Khalid b. Abd Allah al-Qasri died, and she was a Christian. He summoned the Christian bishops in Damascus and said: “Do for her what you do for the daughters of your kings, for she is one of the daughters of kings.” He said: “And he ordered his wives, and they were the ones who attended to her, and they were the ones who instructed the [other] women.” He said: “When they finished and she was carried, he mounted, and the notable people mounted with him, and he walked alongside her. When he reached the grave with her, he turned his mount’s head away and said: ‘This is the last kindness we can show to the mother of Jarir.’ Then he said: ‘Indeed I did for her only what Abd Allah b. Abi Zakariyya did for his mother.’” Muhammad said: “Abd Allah b. Abi Zakariyya was among the devout, jurists, and notables of the people of Syria. Makhul used to learn from him.”
