✧ What is obligatory upon one who embraces Islam

أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ وَعَبْدُ اللهِ ابْنَا عُمَرَ، عَنْ سَعِيدٍ الْمَقْبُرِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ،
أَنَّ ثُمَامَةَ الْحَنَفِيَّ أُسِرَ، فَكَانَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ يَغْدُو إِلَيْهِ، فَيَقُولُ: مَا عِنْدَكَ يَا ثُمَامَةُ ؟ " فَيَقُولُ: إِنْ تَقْتُلْ تَقْتُلْ ذَا دَمٍ، وَإِنْ تَمُنَّ تَمُنَّ عَلَى شَاكِرٍ، وَإِنْ تُرِدِ الْمَالَ نُعْطِ مِنْهُ مَا شِئْتَ ! وَكَانَ أَصْحَابُ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ يُحِبُّونَ الْفِدَاءَ، وَيَقُولُونَ: مَا نَصْنَعُ بِقَتْلِ هَذَا ؟ فَمَرَّ عَلَيْهِ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ يَوْمًا فَأَسْلَمَ، فَحَلَّهَ، وَبَعَثَ بِهِ إِلَى حَائِطِ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ، فَأَمَرَهُ أَنْ يَغْتَسِلَ، فَاغْتَسَلَ، وَصَلَّى رَكْعَتَيْنِ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ: " لَقَدْ حَسُنَ إِسْلَامُ أَخِيكُمْ
Translation
✧ Thumamah al-Hanafi was taken prisoner, and the Prophet ﷺ would go to him in the morning and say: 'What do you have, O Thumamah?' He would reply: 'If you kill, you kill one whose blood will be avenged; if you show favour, you show favour to one who is grateful; and if you want wealth, you will be given from it whatever you wish.' The companions of the Prophet ﷺ were fond of ransom and would say: 'What would we do by killing this man?' One day the Prophet ﷺ passed by him and he embraced Islam, so he released him and sent him to the garden of Abu Talhah, ordering him to perform ghusl. He performed ghusl and prayed two rak'ahs. The Prophet ﷺ said: 'Your brother's Islam has become excellent.'
