حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْحَسَنِ عَلِيُّ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ الْأَصْبَهَانِيُّ بِمَكَّةَ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ هِشَامٍ الطُّوسِيُّ قَالَ: قَرَأْتُ عَلَى مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ النَّجَّارِ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ بْنُ هَمَّامٍ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي عَبَّاسُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ مِينَا:
أَنَّ رَجُلَيْنِ مِنْ مُزَيْنَةَ كَانَا رَجُلَيْ سَوْءٍ، قَدْ قَطَعَا الطَّرِيقَ، وَقَتَلَا. فَمَرَّ بِهِمَا النَّبِيُّ ﷺ فَتَوَضَّيَا، وَصَلَّيَا، ثُمَّ بَايَعَا النَّبِيَّ ﷺ، وَقَالَا: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، قَدْ أَرَدْنَا أَنْ نَأْتِيَكَ، فَقَدْ قَصَّرَ اللهُ خَطْوَنَا ! قَالَ: " مَا اسْمُكُمَا ؟ " قَالَا: الْمُهَانَانِ، قَالَ: بَلْ أَنْتُمَا الْمُكْرَمَانِ
Translation
✧ Two men from Muzaynah were wicked men who had cut off the road and killed. The Prophet ﷺ passed by them, so they performed ablution and prayed, then gave allegiance to the Prophet ﷺ and said: 'O Messenger of Allah, we had intended to come to you, but Allah shortened our steps!' He said: 'What are your names?' They said: 'The two humiliated.' He said: 'Rather, you are the two honored.'
