✧ The funeral prayer for the martyr and washing him

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي عِكْرِمَةُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي عَمَّارٍ، عَنْ شَدَّادِ بْنِ الْهَادِي،
أَنَّ رَجُلًا مِنَ الْأَعْرَابِ جَاءَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَآمَنَ بِهِ وَاتَّبَعَهُ، فَقَالَ: أُهَاجِرُ مَعَكَ، وَأَوْصَى النَّبِيُّ ﷺ بِهِ بَعْضَ أَصْحَابِهِ، فَلَمَّا كَانَتْ غَزْوَةُ خَيْبَرَ أَوْ حُنَيْنٍ غَنِمَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَسَمَ وَقَسَمَ لَهُ، فَأَعْطَى أَصْحَابَهُ مَا قَسَمَ لَهُ، وَكَانَ يَرْعَى ظَهْرَهُمْ، فَلَمَّا جَاءَ دَفَعُوهُ إِلَيْهِ فَقَالَ: مَا هَذَا ؟ فَقَالُوا: قَسْمٌ قَسَمَهُ اللهُ لَكَ وَرَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَأَخَذَهُ، فَجَاءَ بِهِ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَ: مَا هَذَا يَا مُحَمَّدُ ؟ قَالَ: " قَسْمٌ قَسَمْتُهُ لَكَ " قَالَ: مَا عَلَى هَذَا اتَّبَعْتُكَ، وَلَكِنِ اتَّبَعْتُكَ عَلَى أَنْ أُرْمَى هَاهُنَا وَأَشَارَ إِلَى حَلْقِهِ بِسَهْمٍ، فَأَدْخُلَ الْجَنَّةَ قَالَ: إِنْ تَصْدُقِ اللهَ يَصْدُقْكَ قَالَ: فَلَبِثُوا قَلِيلًا، ثُمَّ نَهَضُوا فِي قِتَالِ الْعَدُوِّ، فَأُتِيَ بِهِ يُحْمَلُ قَدْ أَصَابَهُ سَهْمٌ حَيْثُ أَشَارَ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ: " أَهُوَ هُوَ ؟ صَدَقَ اللهَ فَصَدَقَهُ " فَكَفَّنَهُ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ فِي جُبَّةٍ لِلنَّبِيِّ ﷺ، ثُمَّ قَدَّمَهُ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ فَصَلَّى عَلَيْهِ، فَكَانَ مِمَّا ظَهَرَ مِنْ صَلَاتِهِ عَلَيْهِ: اللَّهُمَّ هَذَا عَبْدُكَ خَرَجَ مُهَاجِرًا فِي سَبِيلِكَ، فَقُتِلَ شَهِيدًا، وَأَنَا عَلَيْهِ شَهِيدٌ
Translation
✧ A man from the Bedouins came to the Prophet ﷺ and believed in him and followed him. He said: "I will emigrate with you," and the Prophet ﷺ entrusted him to some of his companions. When the expedition of Khaybar or Hunayn took place, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ obtained spoils and distributed them, and allotted a share to him. He gave his companions what had been allotted to him, as he was tending their riding animals. When he came, they handed it to him, and he asked: "What is this?" They said: "A share which Allah and His Messenger ﷺ have allotted to you." He took it and brought it to the Prophet ﷺ, asking: "What is this, Muhammad?" He said: "A share I allotted to you." He said: "It was not for this that I followed you. Rather, I followed you so that I might be shot here—pointing to his throat—with an arrow and enter Paradise." He said: "If you are truthful to Allah, He will be truthful to you." They remained for a short while, then they rose to fight the enemy. He was brought carried, having been struck by an arrow where he had pointed. The Prophet ﷺ said: "Is it he? He was truthful to Allah, and He was truthful to him." The Prophet ﷺ shrouded him in a jubba of his, then he ﷺ brought him forward and prayed over him. Among what appeared of his prayer over him was: "O Allah, this is Your servant who went out as an emigrant in Your path and was killed as a martyr, and I am a witness to that for him."
