Translation
✧ From Sa'd b. 'Ubayd—who was called 'the reciter' in the time of the Prophet ﷺ—and he had met an enemy and fled from them. 'Umar said to him: 'Would you like to go to Syria? Perhaps Allah may grant you favor.' He said: 'No, except against the enemy from whom I fled.' He said: So he addressed them at al-Qadisiyya and said: 'We will meet the enemy tomorrow, if Allah wills, and we will be martyred. Do not wash our blood from us, and do not shroud us except in a garment that was on us.'
