✧ The funeral prayer for the martyr and washing him

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي الصُّعَيْرِ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ قَالَ:

لَمَّا كَانَ يَوْمُ أُحُدٍ أَشْرَفَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ عَلَى الشُّهَدَاءِ الَّذِينَ قُتِلُوا يَوْمَئِذٍ، فَقَالَ: إِنِّي شَهِدْتُ عَلَى هَؤُلَاءِ فَزَمِّلُوهُمْ بِدِمَائِهِمْ، فَكَانَ يُدْفَنُ الرَّجُلَانِ وَالثَّلَاثَةُ فِي قَبْرٍ وَاحِدٍ، وَيَسْأَلُ أَيُّهُمْ كَانَ أَقْرَأَ لِلْقُرْآنِ ؟ فَيُقَدِّمُونَهُ " قَالَ جَابِرٌ: " فَدُفِنَ أَبِي وَعَمِّي فِي قَبْرٍ وَاحِدٍ يَوْمَئِذٍ

Translation

✧ On the day of Uhud, the Prophet ﷺ looked over the martyrs who had been killed that day and said: 'I have borne witness for these, so wrap them in their blood.' So two men and three were buried in a single grave, and he would ask which of them had read more of the Qur'an, and they would put him first. Jabir said: 'My father and my paternal uncle were buried in a single grave that day.'
