عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ قَالَ:
أَشْرَفَ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ وَأَصْحَابِهِ رَجُلٌ مِنْ قُرَيْشٍ، مِنْ رَأْسِ تَلٍّ فَقَالُوا: مَا أَجْلَدَ هَذَا الرَّجُلَ لَوْ كَانَ جَلَدُهُ فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ ؟ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ: أَوَلَيْسَ فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ إِلَّا مَنْ قُتِلَ ؟ ثُمَّ قَالَ: " مَنْ خَرَجَ فِي الْأَرْضِ يَطْلُبُ حَلَالًا يَكُفُّ بِهِ أَهْلَهُ فَهُوَ فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ، وَمَنْ خَرَجَ يَطْلُبُ حَلَالًا يَكُفُّ بِهِ نَفْسَهُ فَهُوَ فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ، وَمَنْ خَرَجَ يَطْلُبُ التَّكَاثُرَ فَهُوَ فِي سَبِيلِ الشَّيْطَانِ
Translation
✧ A man from Quraysh looked down upon the Prophet ﷺ and his companions from the top of a hill. They said: How sturdy this man is; if only his sturdiness were in the way of God. The Prophet ﷺ said: Is there no one in the way of God except one who is killed? Then he said: “Whoever goes out into the land seeking lawful provision to support his family is in the way of God; whoever goes out seeking lawful provision to support himself is in the way of God; and whoever goes out seeking to amass wealth is in the way of Satan.”
