عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ، عَنِ ابْنِ سِيرِينَ، عَنْ أَبِي عُبَيْدَةَ بْنِ حُذَيْفَةَ قَالَ:
جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى أَبِي مُوسَى الْأَشْعَرِيِّ، وَحُذَيْفَةُ عِنْدَهُ، فَقَالَ: أَرَأَيْتَ رَجُلًا أَخَذَ سَيْفَهُ فَقَاتَلَ بِهِ حَتَّى قُتِلَ أَلَهُ الْجَنَّةُ ؟ قَالَ الْأَشْعَرِيُّ: نَعَمْ قَالَ: فَقَالَ حُذَيْفَةُ: اسْتَفْهِمِ الرَّجُلَ وَأَفْهِمْهُ قَالَ: كَيْفَ قُلْتَ ؟ فَأَعَادَ عَلَيْهِ مِثْلَ قَوْلِهِ الْأَوَّلِ: فَقَالَ لَهُ أَبُو مُوسَى مِثْلَ قَوْلِهِ الْأَوَّلِ قَالَ: فَقَالَ حُذَيْفَةُ أَيْضًا: اسْتَفْهِمِ الرَّجُلَ وَأَفْهِمْهُ، قَالَ: كَيْفَ قُلْتَ ؟ فَأَعَادَ عَلَيْهِ مِثْلَ قَوْلِهِ، فَقَالَ: مَا عِنْدِي إِلَّا هَذَا، فَقَالَ حُذَيْفَةُ: " لَيَدْخُلَنَّ النَّارَ مَنْ يَفْعَلُ هَذَا كَذَا وَكَذَا، وَلَكِنْ مَنْ ضَرَبَ بِسَيْفِهِ فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ يُصِيبُ الْحَقَّ، فَلَهُ الْجَنَّةُ "، فَقَالَ أَبُو مُوسَى: صَدَقَ
Translation
✧ A man came to Abū Mūsā al-Ashʿarī while Ḥudhayfah was with him and said: "What do you think of a man who took his sword and fought with it until he was killed—does he have Paradise?" Al-Ashʿarī said: "Yes." Ḥudhayfah said: "Ask the man to clarify and make him understand." He said: "What did you say?" The man repeated his first statement, and Abū Mūsā gave the same answer. Ḥudhayfah again said: "Ask the man to clarify and make him understand." He said: "What did you say?" The man repeated his statement, and Abū Mūsā said: "I have nothing but this." Ḥudhayfah said: "Whoever does this in such and such a way will surely enter the Fire. But whoever strikes with his sword in the path of God seeking the truth, for him is Paradise." Abū Mūsā said: "He has spoken the truth."
