عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ،
أَنَّ أَبَا عُبَيْدٍ الثَّقَفِيَّ اسْتَعْمَلَهُ عُمَرُ عَلَى جَيْشٍ فَقُتِلَ فِي أَرْضِ فَارِسَ هُوَ وَجَيْشُهُ، فَقَالَ عُمَرُ: " لَوِ انْحَازُوا إِلَيَّ كُنْتُ لَهُمْ فِئَةً
Translation
✧ 'Umar appointed Abu 'Ubayd al-Thaqafi over an army, and he was killed in the land of Persia, he and his army. So 'Umar said: "If they had withdrawn to me, I would have been a group for them."
