عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ بْنِ أَبِي رَوَّادٍ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو سَلَمَةَ الْحِمْصِيُّ،
أَنَّ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ عَوْفٍ قَالَ لِرَجُلٍ مِنْ فُقَرَاءِ الْمُهَاجِرِينَ: أَتَخْرُجُ مَعِي يَا فُلَانُ لِلْغَزْوِ ؟ قَالَ: نَعَمْ، فَوَعَدَهُ، فَلَمَّا حَضَرَهُ الْخُرُوجُ دَعَاهُ، فَأَبَى أَنْ يَخْرُجَ مَعَهُ، فَقَالَ لَهُ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ: أَلَيْسَ قَدْ وَعَدْتَنِي ؟ أَتَكْذِبُنِي ؟ وَتُخْلِفُنِي ؟ قَالَ: مَا أَسْتَطِيعُ أَنْ أَخْرُجَ قَالَ: مَا الَّذِي يَمْنَعُكَ ؟ قَالَ: عِيَالِي وَأَهْلِي قَالَ: فَمَا الَّذِي يُرْضِيكَ حَتَّى تَخْرُجَ ؟ قَالَ: ثَلَاثَةُ دَنَانِيرَ، عَلَى أَنْ يَخْرُجَ مَعَهُ فَخَرَجَ مَعَهُ، فَلَمَّا هَزَمُوا الْعَدُوَّ وَأَصَابُوا الْغَنَائِمَ، قَالَ لِعَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ: أَعْطِنِي نَصِيبِي مِنَ الْغَنَائِمِ، فَقَالَ لَهُ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ سَأَذْكُرُ أَمْرَكَ لِرَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَذَكَرَهُ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: هَذِهِ الثَّلَاثَةُ دَنَانِيرَ حَظُّهُ وَنَصِيبُهُ مِنْ غَزْوِهِ مِنْ أَمْرِ دُنْيَاهُ وَآخِرَتِهِ
Translation
✧ That Abd al-Rahman b. Awf said to a man from the poor emigrants: "Will you go out with me, O so-and-so, on a military expedition?" He said: "Yes." So he promised him. When the time of departure came, he called him, but he refused to go out with him. Abd al-Rahman said to him: "Did you not promise me? Are you lying to me and breaking your promise to me?" He said: "I cannot go out." He said: "What prevents you?" He said: "My dependents and my family." He said: "What will satisfy you so that you go out?" He said: "Three dinars," on condition that he go out with him. So he went out with him. When they defeated the enemy and obtained the spoils, he said to Abd al-Rahman: "Give me my share of the spoils." Abd al-Rahman said to him: "I will mention your matter to the Messenger of God ﷺ." So he mentioned it, and the Messenger of God ﷺ said: "These three dinars are his lot and his share from his expedition, in the affairs of his world and his hereafter."
