عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ، عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ أَبِي النَّجُودِ قَالَ:
كَتَبَ خَالِدُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ إِلَى مِهْرَانَ بْنِ زَادَانَ وَآخَرَ مَعَهُ قَدْ سَمَّاهُ: أَمَّا بَعْدُ، فَإِنِّي أَدْعُوكُمْ إِلَى الْإِسْلَامِ، فَإِنْ أَبَيْتُمْ فَإِنِّي أَدْعُوكُمْ إِلَى إِعْطَاءِ الْجِزْيَةِ، فَإِنْ أَبَيْتُمْ فَإِنَّ عِنْدِي قَوْمًا يُحِبُّونَ الْقِتَالَ كَمَا تُحِبُّ فَارِسُ شُرْبَ الْخَمْرِ
Translation
✧ Khalid b. al-Walid wrote to Mihran b. Zadan and another with him whom he named: Now then, I call you to Islam. If you refuse, I call you to give the jizya. If you refuse, I have with me a people who love fighting as the Persians love drinking wine.
