✧ Killing the polytheists by captivation and ransoming captives

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُيَيْنَةَ، عَنْ زَكَرِيَّا، عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مُطِيعٍ
عَنْ مُطِيعِ بْنِ الْأَسْوَدِ - وَكَانَ اسْمُهُ الْعَاصِ فَسَمَّاهُ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ مُطِيعًا - قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَوْمَ الْفَتْحِ: لَا يُقْتَلُ قُرَشِيٌّ بَعْدَ الْيَوْمِ صَبْرًا
Translation
✧ From Muti' b. al-Aswad—whose name was al-'As, and the Prophet ﷺ named him Muti'—he said: The Messenger of God ﷺ said on the Day of the Conquest: 'No Qurayshi shall be killed patiently [i.e., in captivity] after today.'
